4 Simple reasons to go for .com domain extension

As a blogger, you may be tempted to stick with the free blogging platforms. That is, platforms that gives you free domain names to host your sub-domain. By this, I refer to the xyz.domain.com scattered across the internet. Many bloggers have settled for these free domain because they do not want to invest in blogging, despite making money from it. Others remain on xyz.domain.com because of their easy navigation and easy customer support system.

In this article, we will examine the benefits of .com domains and why you should have one for a more successful blogging career.

WHY .COM DOMAIN?

The .com domain marked the beginning of the relevance and boom of internet and the whole web space. Its relevance and long use is evident in the fact that the .com domain is what first comes to mind when thinking of the internet in general, and websites in particular.  It has reached a level of general acceptance. No wonder some people will liken it and describe it as a synonym for the world internet. Funny, right? But that is not far from the truth.

  •  Easy to remember : Due to the long usage which now spans over 2 decades, the .com domain remains the easiest to remember. It is the extension with the most registered domain names. Also, trying telling someone about a domain with different extensions and you will realise that the .com without argument is the easiest to remember.
  •  Browsers' support : When you type a website address in a browser today, it suggests the .com extension by default before you enter the full address. imagine the number of raw traffics some .com domains get each hour due to some mistakes in clicking the suggested extension.
  • Creating a brand: Remember, .com is seen as the real thing. it is thus much more advisable to use a brand your business around it than to use other domains. It is simply seen as original.
  • Profitability in Resale Markets: Have you heard about domain flipping and the domain market place.? kindly pay a visit to any of these websites and you will see how valuable the .com domain is over the other extensions. Buyers roll over themselves, outbidding each other to secure a valuable .com domain name even when there are other domains in other extensions which may be doing much better in both search engine rankings and revenue.

Now, it is not my intention to totally convince you against buying any other extensions apart from .com. Instead, I have stated reasons why you should go first for .com domain at every opportunity where your desired domain name is available. And where you can afford it, grab all extensions that may favour your business and that makes it difficult for your competitor to be easily seen online.
